An inside joke between me and some friends spiraled into an essay that went viral. Hundreds of death threats and thank you notes flooded in. It was amazing. I read it now and think, “Hmm. A bit negative. A bit angry.” But I still get emails saying, “Thank you. I thought I was the only one,” and that feels good. I got a thank you email from the music critic of the LA Times. That was especially wonderful. But I’ve heard several first-hand accounts about Dave Grohl being an awesome dude. Letting a stranger borrow his car and stuff like that. Dave, I’m sorry, dude.
